IMO 2020 – CHINESE NEW YEAR - CORONAVIRUS

Bien que le travail reprenne progressivement en Chine, il n’en reste pas moins que les compagnies maritimes ont annoncé pour l’essentiel d’entre elles des « blank-sailing » au mois de Février.
Un grand nombre de bateaux encore schedulés ne recevront pas le Fret escompté du fait de l interruption de la production chinoise et les programmes de blank-sailing peuvent encore évoluer. Compte tenu de ces évènements, nous anticipons une augmentation des taux de Fret.

• Diminution des flux imports impactant les flux exports (manque d’équipement)
• Concentration de Fret sur les bateaux restant schédulés
• Congestion dans les ports chinois (notamment pour les Reefers)

Compte tenu de cette conjoncture, nous espérons un retour à la normale au mieux début avril. D’ici là, il est probable que l’ensemble des compagnies maritimes réajustent leur taux de Fret Asie (import - export).

Although work is gradually resuming in China, the fact remains that most shipping companies have confirmed that they will be « blank sailing » in February.
A large number of vessels still scheduled will not receive the expected cargo due to the interruption of Chinese production and the blank sailing that may still evolve. In view of these events, we anticipate an:

• Increase in rates.
  • Reduction in import flows impacting export flows (lack of equipment)
• High volume of cargo on the remaining scheduled vessels
• Congestion at Chinese ports (especially for reefers)

Given the circumstances, we hope that by early April, everything will return to normality. In the meantime, it is likely that all shipping companies will readjust their Asia Freight rates for both imports and exports.

Following discussions between the U.S and Europe, the retaliatory measures originally announced on February 14th, 2020 by the Trump administration have been postponed.

La tempête de ces derniers jours a impacté les opérations dans les ports d’Europe du Nord (Ex : opérations navires ralentis, changement de rotation sur le nord Europe, ports bypassés).

Bien que la situation météo se soit améliorée, la perspective d’un retour au calme est ternie par les avis de grève déposés pour les journées du jeudi 13 et lundi 17 février 2020.

Des semaines 7 et 8 qui s’annoncent encore difficiles…

The storm of the past few days has impacted operations in Northern European ports (ex: slowed shipping operations, change of rotation in Northern Europe, bypassed ports).

Although the weather has improved, the expectancy of a return to calmness is tarnished by the strike notice filed on thursday February 13th and Monday February 17th, 2020.

Weeks 7 and 8 have promised to be difficult…
